About two weeks ago, the Obama administration launched their version of Orwell’s thought police (2084 - Obamacare and the thought police).  People were encouraged to report any “disinformation” they may have received, or read, or heard in casual conversation, about healthcare.  They were to send this information to the ominous adress of Flag@whitehouse.gov.  I am not sure if the flag refers to the U.S. flag or to flagging potential dissidents, or is it your patriotic duty to honor the flag and flag dissidents?

Strangely enough, many people were upset by the idea of reporting others’ opinions to the government.  The e-mail address has been taken down.  There hasn’t been any indication that the Obama administration understands what was wrong with this idea in the first place.  The official reason for the removal is the overwhelming anger it has caused amongst the bourgeois.  I would like to think that maybe, also, it was being overwhelmed with e-mails by good citizens like Peren and I.

Update: The Obama administration is blaming the poor reception received by the “Flag” e-mail program and the David Axelrod chain e-mail on…Republicans.  That’s right, they see nothing wrong with asking citizens to report the conversations of others or sending unsolicited propaganda to citizens.  Instead, they blame Republicans for instilling fear in the ignorant masses.  In response they have shut down the “Flag” e-mail address, and moved it to another address.  That makes it all better.  Michelle Malkin has the story here: Michelle Malkin: Internet snitch brigade disabled but…
