Apparently, Shepard Fairey (no seriously, that’s his name) isn’t the only “artist” out there who has been inspired by Obama.  You remember Mr. Fairey, he’s the guy who came up with the famous Obama Hope painting.  Well another artist has been expressing his vision in various public forums in Los Angeles.  That picture of Obama looks like this:

Shepard Fairey was the toast of the liberal community for his painting.  The Obama Joker picture is somewhat less popular.  In fact, Steven Mikulan says, “the only thing missing is a noose”.  Certainly this isn’t a positive portrayal of Obama, but it doesn’t appear to me that it has anything to do with him being black.  I think the word at the bottom of the picture is “socialism” and my guess would be that there is an implication that Obama is a liar, or a criminal or ridiculous but I don’t see anything that has to do with race.   I’m no art critic though, but something about this piece catches the eye.

As the left is fond of saying, “we have a long way to go in race relations in this country.”  I would agree.  The first step we should take is for a portion of the black and liberal community to stop screaming racism every time a black man is arrested or criticized.  You want to eliminate “institutionalized racism”?  Eliminate programs that put people into a category then reward or punish them based on which category they fit in.  Eliminate laws that say a crime against a member of one category is more heinous than the same type of crime commited against a member of a different category.  The left has no interest in these ideas because they have no interest in eliminating racism.  The left trades in racism and victimstance.

There’s part of this story no one seems to be talking about.  That’s the fact that Shepard Fairey and the new, unknown “artist” are actually both criminals.  I know, its a small detail.  It is a crime though, when you express your artistic vision on the side of someone else’s property or use copyrighted material in your “art”.  Property rights are a small price to pay though if you are making an important statement, like how you feel about the President, or which gang you think is da bomb.

Atlas Shrugs and Michelle Malkin have some galleries of the various “Bush is Hitler” themed pictures along with “Kill Bush” pictures and one with George W. Bush as the Joker.  Apparently, no one on the left found these offensive:Atlas Shrugs: How deep is the hypocrisy   Michelle Malkin: How quickly they forget
