The story of John Holdren and his eugenicist book he co-authored has really generated some interest.  Many of my recent hits have been on my previous John Holdren entry .  I guess there are still some people out there who care about  what kind of people President Obama is appointing to his staff.  I decided to find out some more about John Holdren. 

     John P. Holdren has a PhD in plasma physics from Stanford.  He taught at University of California at Berkeley and is now the director of the Woods Hole research center, in addition to his position as That One’s Science Czar.  He has written or co-written a variety of papers and books on the two major global problems of overpopulation and global warming/global cooling/global climate change/liberal cause celebre(I don’t know how to type that little accent you put on cool words like celebre).   The titles of these books tell a story, there’s the now famous Ecoscience, Earth and the Human Future, and Human Ecology just to name a few.   An informative post from last December refers to him as a climate alarmist: Open market: climate alarmist John Holdren while another from the same time period calls him climate change expert: The Guardian: John Holdren: climate change expert.  Do you know what this means?  John Holdren is an expert in not just one…but two of the biggest alarmist junk science sideshow farces of the past few centuries.

     Here’s a little slideshow presentation Johnny boy did on one of his favorite crackpot causes The Warming of the Earth.  Its pretty standard stuff, CO2 emissions bad, people bad, citations of flawed studies and made up statistics, but you might want to look at the illustrations.

     Here’s the thing about John Holdren though.  While his unwavering belief in made-up global crisis is normal for a man of his politics, his solutions are a bit more radical.  His solutions for overpopulation included mass sterilization, seizing of babies, forced sterilization of “undesirables” etc…Prison planet: Science Czar’s mass sterilization plan already happening, Hot Air:If you like putting sterilants in our water and forcing undesirables to have abortions, have we got a Science Czar for you, Michell Malkin: The ghoulish spirit of Margaret Sanger lives

     It would appear that these cooky ideas were not just part of a phase he was going through as some sort of hangover from the sixties or something.  He does advocate an expansion of nuclear power to combat global warming (even crackpots have a good idea every now and then) but the rest of his “solutions” come from the same crazy universe as his overpopulation “solutions”  One of these includes shooting pollution particles into the atmosphere to block the Sun’s rays Hot Air: Obama to geoengineer the Earth’s climate.  I thought pollution was what trapped the Sun’s rays and caused this problem in the first place.  Assuming there actually was global warming, this sort of thinking fits right into typical liberal logic, and Obama’s God complex (if there was a God I mean).  Human meddling created this problem so the best way to fix it would be with further human meddling.  Isn’t it good to know that the Obama administration has Science back in its rightful place?
