Some left wing sites, like this entry on Liberal Values, are discussing climategate as an isolated incident.  They are claiming that those who don’t accept global warming/cooling/climate change/Daddy Gore needs mo’ money as indisputable science are ignoring a huge body of supporting science to focus on a few suspicious, isolated e-mails and dumped data.  Ironically, they are claiming it is the right who is twisting “science” to fit an agenda.

There are some problems with that logic.  If the e-mails discussing certain data being ignored or manipulated were a one time occurence, they could be dismissed.  However, this is not the first time data has been left out if it didn’t support the holy doctrine of global warming.  Mitchell Taylor has been working with polar bears for 30 years and is an expert on polar bear populations.  He was told not to attend the 2009 meeting in Copenhagen of the Polar Bear Specialist Group.  The reason his attendance was not necessary: “views that run counter to human induced climate change are extremely unhelpful”, “Nothing I heard had to do with your science on harvesting or your research on polar bears-it was the positions you’ve taken on global warming that brought opposition”.  You can read the rest of the letter here: Jennifer Marohasy: Exile for non-believers.  So, by their own admission, the Polar Bear Specialist Group can find nothing wrong with Mitchell Taylor’s science.  They just don’t want to hear from him because he doesn’t agree with their findings.  That sounds eerily familiar to some of the quotes from the climate gate e-mails.  These “isolated incidents” seem to have a theme.

Remember Al Gore?  He also won a Nobel Peace Prize (do they hand those things out when you register as a Democrat these days?).  He accomplished a little more than Obama had before winning the big NPP, Al Gore made a film about global warming.  Al Gore’s film warned of the terrible dangers the world faced due to man made global warming.  Beef has been determined to be hugely detrimental to the environment.  In fact, some eco-loon has determined “The Cheeseburger Footprint“.  Al Gore, the Nobel Prize winning high priest of global warming, dismisses the findings of leading “scientists” in climatology and doesn’t see any need to cut back on his cheeseburger intake.  So, either one of the leaders of the global warming movement is a huge hypocrite, or, he knows the whole thing is bullshit (pardon the pun) and he’s just in it for the money.

Just about 30 or so years ago, the same “science” that has indisputably concluded that the world is getting warmer had concluded that the world was facing a new ice-age.  Earth Day was, in fact, created to raise awareness of…GLOBAL COOLING!  Earth Day was such an effective holiday, that just about 15 years later, the world was facing a heat wave.  In fact, if you go back through the entire 20th century, you will find that about every 15 years or so, the earth faces a climate crisis alternating between a new ice-age and global warming.  This goes all the way back to the 19th century.  Were CO2 emissions already influencing the climate in 1890?  If the temperature goes up for a little while, then it goes down for a little while, doesn’t that sound like some kind of cycle?  In the late 20th century, these same “scientists” predicted the world’s temperature would rise at alarming rates over the next decade.  Instead, the temperature did nothing.  Did the alarmist “scientists” re-evaluate their data?  Nope, they just changed the name of the phenomenon.

Now it has been exposed that data has been manipulated over time and even erased.  This could possibly be explained away by itself.  A stable polar bear population could be explained in isolation.  When several groups of data point to a similar conclusion, this is called a pattern.  Ignoring this pattern may allow one to continue clinging to the doctrine of global climate change, but it wouldn’t be science.
